Our commitment
Superior Greenstone Association for Community Living exists to help people belong. That mission doesn't stop at our front door — it shapes how we build this website, too. We are committed to making our digital services usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability, device, or the assistive technology they rely on.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time task. As the site grows and standards evolve, we keep testing, learning, and improving.
Conformance status
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the internationally recognized standard for accessible web content. These guidelines explain how to make web content more perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for people with a wide range of disabilities.
We also work to meet our obligations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation, which sets accessibility requirements for organizations across Ontario.
Measures we take
Accessibility is built into how we design and code this site. Some of the steps we take include:
- Semantic HTML. Meaningful headings, lists, and landmarks so screen readers can convey structure clearly.
- Full keyboard navigation. Every interactive element can be reached and operated without a mouse, including a "skip to main content" link.
- Visible focus. A clear focus indicator shows where you are on the page as you tab through it.
- Sufficient colour contrast. Text and meaningful graphics are designed to meet a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
- ARIA where needed. Accessible names and roles for controls that need them — used only to complement, not replace, native HTML.
- Responsive, resizable text. Body text is at least 16px and reflows cleanly when zoomed or viewed on small screens.
- Accessible forms and tables. Labelled fields, clear error messages, and data tables with proper header cells and scope.
- Reduced-motion support. Animations are minimized for visitors who prefer reduced motion in their system settings.
Requesting alternative formats
If any content on this site isn't accessible to you, we're glad to help. On request, we can provide information in an alternative format — such as plain text, large print, or another accessible format — and we'll work with you to find the option that suits you best. There is no charge for this, and we'll respond as quickly as we reasonably can.
To make a request, contact us using the details in the Feedback & contact section below.
Known limitations
We want to be honest about where we're still improving. A few things to be aware of:
- The ticket-purchase step is completed on our licensed raffle provider's platform, which is a separate service we don't fully control. If you hit an accessibility barrier there, please let us know and we'll help you complete your purchase another way.
- Some third-party or embedded content (for example, external links and services) may not fully meet the same standards we hold ourselves to.
- As we add new content, an occasional issue may slip through before our next review. Your feedback helps us catch and fix these quickly.
Feedback & contact
Your experience matters to us. If you run into a barrier, have a suggestion, or want to request content in another format, please get in touch — we welcome the feedback and take it seriously.
